Social and emotional learning · ages 3 to 8

A child who can name a feeling no longer has to scream it out.

Five jungle animals give children the words for what they feel. Around those characters we built a complete method, for the classroom, the therapy room and the living room.

What it is

One shared language for feelings, at school and at home

Social and emotional skills do not come naturally to young children. An ordinary school day is full of tension, and that tension looks for a way out.

Jungle Buddies gives children aged 3 to 8 the words and the strategies to deal with it, step by step. Parrot, Lion, Monkey, Crocodile and Elephant each have their own character, with talents and pitfalls. Every child recognises itself in one of them.

Around those five characters sits a fully developed learning line: lesson cards, picture stories, audio stories, play material and an online platform. The teacher, the therapist and the parent all use the same language, so the message survives when the child changes context.

How it works

Three steps and your class is off

There is nothing you need to prepare that is not already there. The material arrives, the lesson cards are waiting online and the characters get a place in the classroom.

  1. Getting to know them

The class meets the five Jungle Buddies. Each character stands for a skill, and children pick their favourite all by themselves.

  2. Theme by theme

A picture story opens the theme, the lesson cards work it out. Basics or depth, you choose what your class needs.

  3. Taking it outside

Playground posters, letters home and exercises for the living room keep the language from staying inside the classroom.

From the classroom

They already started

Clear activities, written up short and to the point. It is a relief that there is hardly any extra work involved, everything has been prepared. The children took to the characters straight away and keep comparing themselves to them. It comes alive from the very first moment.

We bought this method because we were running into a lot of difficulties in one particular class. It is such rewarding material: ready to use and well grounded. The children cannot wait to go to the Jungle class. I can really see the effect, there are far fewer conflicts.

We started this school year in the second and third year of nursery school. The method is very easy to work with. The children welcomed the Jungle Buddies with real enthusiasm. We are looking forward to discovering the rest.
