A fully developed year programme for group therapy
The same characters as in the classroom, but more intensive: more repetition, more role play and explicit attention for transfer to school and home.
What it is
A learning line instead of separate sessions
The therapy box holds more than 270 ready-to-use therapy cards, spread across six themes with a grounded build-up. You choose per session what the group needs, but the line is already there.
Each theme opens with an A3 picture story, with a recorded version so children can revisit the story on their own. After that come exercises that work step by step towards fully developed role plays, and a performance for the parents.
The content
Six themes, from a safe climate to a growth mindset
- Theme 01
Belonging to a group
What is my place in the group? Children learn that they belong, and what they themselves do to make a group work.
- Theme 02
Communication
How do I say what I mean? From non-verbal signals to listening and waiting your turn.
- Theme 03
Emotions
From the four basic emotions to degrees and mixtures. Naming comes first, regulating follows.
- Theme 04
Playing together
Rules, roles and tuning in to what someone else needs. Play is practice in miniature.
- Theme 05
Conflict and repair
Taking another perspective during a conflict, and concrete repair strategies children can use themselves.
- Theme 06
Self-image
Knowing your own talents and your own limits, and daring to try what does not work yet.
A sixth character
Snake, the mischief maker

The therapy box adds one character. Snake wants to belong, but tends to go about it the wrong way. He teases, he overdoes it, he pushes just a little too far.
That is exactly why he works so well in a group: every child recognises itself in Snake now and then, without the conversation having to be about them. It makes talking about difficult behaviour a lot safer.

Why it works
Building bridges across the care network
A child practises something with you that it has to be able to use at home and at school. If everyone uses different words, it starts over every time.
Jungle Buddies gives the therapist, the teacher and the parent the same story and the same images. If you work with a school that already uses the classroom method, the child recognises the characters immediately.
Practical
Questions therapists ask us
What age is the therapy box for?
For nursery-age children and the first grades of primary school, in groups. The exercises are strongly supported by images, so children with limited language can take part too.
Can I use it one to one as well?
The programme is built for group work, because many of the goals are about interaction. A large part of the cards and step-by-step plans works one to one, but the role plays come into their own in a group.
Do I have to follow the whole year programme?
No. The learning line is there, but you set the pace and the selection. Some therapists work through one theme per term, others run the full year.
What if the child's school also uses Jungle Buddies?
Then it gets interesting. You can refer straight to the same characters and step-by-step plans, and the back-and-forth communication is designed for it.
